ART AND THE
RIVER: VIEWS AND VISIONS OF THE HOUSATONIC
Art and the River promotes a
renewed vision of the Housatonic River as an inspiring natural
resource that has shaped the Berkshires. At the same time, the book
establishes the river as an artistic and literary inspiration of
national significance.
A series of four-color historic and
contemporary paintings as well as black-and-white artistic
renderings and photographs of the Housatonic River illustrate the
book. The main text consists of essays by Housatonic River
conservators and by contemporary and historic art specialists. Click
the cover image to the right to see an enlarged view.
Income
from the sale of the book will go to a collaborative project for
Housatonic River improvement currently being planned by the
participating HRS 2004 river conservancy sponsors. All of the
participating art and conservancy cosponsors are non-profit
organizations.
